Daniel Silva Pleads No Contest To Vehicular Manslaughter

A reality TV star has pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter after a crash. Oxygen.com reports.

Daniel Silva was originally arrested for murder after the crash which killed his passenger, YouTuber Corey La Barrie. They were driving through a neighborhood when Silva lost control of his sports car and hit a stop sign.

Silva allegedly tried to leave the scene of the crash but was stopped by bystanders. The police report says that he was drunk at the time of the crash. Both men were taken to the hospital, but La Barrie died from his injuries. La Barrie was also intoxicated at the time.

La Barrie’s family have sued Silva for wrongful death. After Silva’s no-contest plea, he faces a maximum four year sentence.

A no-contest plea means that he accepts the punishment given by the court, but does not agree that he’s guilty. This has implications for civil cases. If he had pleaded guilty, the civil suit would be an open-and-shut case. Now the family will have to work harder to succeed in their wrongful death suit.

We hope that the family can achieve the closure they need and the compensation they deserve for this case. If you’ve had a loved one injured by someone else’s careless actions, contact a personal injury attorney for advice.
