The Tribune of San Luis Obispo recently reported that a man and woman were arrested on suspicion of DUI and firearms charges following a routine traffic stop in San Luis Obispo early Sunday morning.
According to the statement released by the San Luis Obispo Police Department, at approximately 1:20 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle that was driving erratically on Highway 101 and Los Osos Valley Road.
According to the police report, a man and woman were inside the vehicle. Both occupants displayed symptoms of intoxication by a controlled substance. Officers checked the car’s registration and found that the vehicle’s registration had also expired.
Officers searched the vehicle and found three rifles and ammunition, several small containers containing various narcotics, and drug paraphernalia were found in the pocket of the male suspect.
They have identified the suspects as 39-year-old Travis Burrus of Oceano and 46-year-old Kimberly Fennessey of San Luis Obispo. Court documents indicate that both Burrus and Fennessey have had previous felony convictions. Both were booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
Burrus faces the charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, driving under the influence of drugs, being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
Fennessey faces the charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, and possession of methamphetamine.
According to a statement from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department, both Burrus and Fennessey are being held on bonds of $50,000.
