Costa Mesa DUI Leads To Arrest

The Los Angeles Times / Daily Pilot reported recently that a driver suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) was arrested in Costa Mesa, CA on Monday, April 12, 2021 after an incident in which he crashed into multiple parked vehicles and then a palm tree alongside the road. 

According to officials with the Costa Mesa Police Department, a Chino Hills man, 26 years of age, was arrested in Costa Mesa on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) after an incident that occurred between 7:55 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Monday, April 12, 2021, in which he allegedly damaged several other vehicles. The suspect and his passenger were traveling along 20th Street when they crashed into several vehicles parked along a curb on the northbound side of the 300 block of East 20th Street, near Woodland Park, Woodland Elementary School, and Tustin Avenue. They then struck a city-owned palm tree before coming to a halt. 

The driver was allegedly determined by responding police officers to be driving under the influence and was placed under arrest. Only one of the four vehicles that were struck was occupied and no injuries were sustained in the incident, which remains under investigation.
