A DUI charge can affect your future endeavors. Many DUI charges can result in fines, loss of license, and sometimes, jail time. Future employers can do criminal background checks and see this on your record, affecting your ability to gain employment. Even prospective professional football players can be affected by such a charge.

A former Mississippi State quarterback and NFL draft prospect was arrested this weekend on potential DUI charges.

Dak Prescott was arrested by the Starkville Police Department around 12:45 am on March 12. There is no additional information on the charges at this time.

Some could argue that Prescott was the best player in Mississippi State’s history. The 6′-2” 226-pound star rewrote the school’s passing records and helped the program win a combined 19 games during his junior and senior years.

Popular with his teammates and and praised for his character, Prescott was expected to be drafted between the 2nd and 4th rounds in the NFL draft this April.

On the Thursday before the incident, Prescott had been throwing for professional scouts during Mississippi State’s Pro Day. 30 NFL teams showed up to watch the athlete. However, Saturday’s arrest clouds the athlete’s reputation.

In his last season as quarterback for the university, Prescott threw for 3.793 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. He also ran for 588 yards and scored 10 touchdowns.
