Two Los Angeles City Hall aides were arrested earlier this month on suspicion of DUI charges.

Fredy Ceja, a spokesman for City Councilman Gil Cedillo, was involved in a collision with a with a Metro Bus in downtown Los Angeles. The accident occurred near 6th and Spring Street. The arrest occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday, March 12th.

Ceja had been driving a personal vehicle at the time of the accident. He was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

About an hour following Ceja’s arrest, another aide for the Los Angeles City Hall was also arrested. Fredy Torres, a field deputy for Councilman Marqueese Harris-Dawson, was arrested in south Los Angeles. The arrest took place near 43rd street and McKinley Avenue.

Torres had spent the evening running errands in a city-issued vehicle preparing for a tree-planting event to be held on Saturday. At the time of his arrest, he was less than a block away from his home.

36-year old Ceja and 27-year old Torres were both arrested on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Torres was released from jail at about noon on Saturday.

Neither man could be reached for comment.
