Canyon Country Man Killed In DUI Wreck

KHTS AM 1220 /  FM 98.1 / HometownStation.com reported recently that a Canyon Country resident was killed in an accident along the Sierra Highway on the evening of Wednesday, March 24, 2021 that is suspected to have been caused by a driver under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or other intoxicants.

According to officials with the California Highway Patrol’s Antelope Valley Area Office and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, a Canyon Country man was killed on Sierra Highway near Mountain Springs Road in Acton, between 7:40 p.m. and 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. A Toyota Corolla was southbound on Sierra Highway when, for unknown reasons still under investigation, they veered off the roadway and collided with the dirt shoulder which sent the vehicle careening across all lanes of the roadway.

The Corolla collided with a northbound vehicle on the passenger side, causing fatal injuries to the victim who was a passenger in the Toyota. Three people in total were trapped, according to the L.A. County Fire Department. 

The driver of the Corolla, a Santa Clarita woman 19 years of age, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. She was arrested and charged with felony DUI causing death.
