It seems that yet another child actor has joined the ranks of Lindsay Lohan and Drake Bell and landed themselves in trouble with the law. Last year, Drake Bell was sentenced to 96 hours in jail for DUI. Now, US Magazine is reporting that the former star of the Disney show Sonny with a Chance has been busted driving under the influence as well.
Brandon Mychael Smith was driving his Rolls Royce when he overshot a cross walk at a red light. He reversed into proper position, but police had already seen the traffic violation. The incident occurred at about 7:10 a.m. on July 23 in Burbank, California.
The stop led to a DUI investigation, which included a field sobriety test. At the end of the investigation, arresting officers determined that Smith had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
Officers arrested Smith and charged the man with DUI. He remained in custody for several hours before being released. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 17th.
Smith began his acting career at age eight. He has starred with Demi Lovato in Disney Channel’s Sonny with a Chance, which ran for two seasons. He also starred alongside Robert DeNiro and Zac Efron in Dirty Grandpa.
Reportedly, his blood alcohol content was at twice the legal limit.
