Woman Killed By A Car While Crossing The Street in Modesto

No matter what mode of transportation someone takes to get from where they are to where they are going, there are always risks involved. Even if you decide rather than driving to take public transportation, walk, or travel by bicycle instead, there’s still a chance of getting into an accident and being seriously injured or worse.

ABC 10 reports that a 38-year-old woman was killed by a car as she was crossing the street in Modesto Sunday evening.

A spokesperson for the Modesto Police Department said that the bicyclist was crossing Woodland Avenue at the Yellowstone Avenue intersection at approximately 5:45 p.m. when she was struck by a 2017 Acura ILX.

Paramedics and police responded to the scene of the accident. The woman was rushed to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries she suffered in the crash. The woman later died as the result of her injuries.

After a series of field sobriety tests, Modesto Police officers arrested 51-year-old Christina Castillo on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
