Authorities Suspect DUI in Fatal Crash in Riverside

KTLA reports a motorcyclist was seriously injured, and his female passenger died in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend.

A spokesperson for the Riverside Police Department said in a statement that the fatal crash happened at the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Fairhaven Drive at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15.

Police officers responding to the scene found an overturned 2020 Buell motorcycle, along with the driver and passenger, lying in the roadway.

A 37-year-old woman from Norco who had been a passenger on the motorcycle was declared dead at the scene of the crash.

The motorcyclist, a 41-year-old man, also from Norco was driving the motorcycle, suffered serious injuries to the lower half of his body. He was taken by ambulance for treatment. Authorities did not release his identity or current condition at the time of the report.

Police detectives investigating the crash scene believe that the man had been riding his motorcycle eastbound on Arlington Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The motorcycle’s front end struck a curb, and both riders were ejected from the bike and onto the pavement.

Investigators believe that speed, alcohol, and/or drugs played a role in the fatal crash.
