Alleged DUI Driver Plows through Line of Motorcycles

Tragedy struck in south Los Angeles in the early hours of Saturday morning. At about 12:50 a.m., a police officer received a call regarding an accident that occurred on West 59th Street near Normandie Avenue. The driver of Dodge sedan crashed first into a minivan, then struck a pedestrian. The driver continued, crashing into a building before coming to a stop after plowing through a line of motorcycles that had been parked on the side of the road.

The motorcycles were part of a party for the Persuaders Motorcycle Club. One of its members, William Lamar Walker, was struck by the sedan while he was on the sidewalk. Sadly, he passed away on the scene. Another victim was the female driver of the minivan. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

In total, there were eight people injured, including three children. One person declined to be taken to the hospital. One of the children in the van suffered from a broken bone. All children were reported to be in stable condition.

The driver of the sedan was arrested on suspicion of DUI. He was also transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
