A Toyota Yaris lost control, hit a retaining wall, and became disabled in the carpool lane. A Ford Fusion then collided with the rear of the vehicle.

The driver of the Toyota Yaris was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. The driver of the Ford Fusion was arrested on suspicion of DUI. He was then transported to Memorial Hospital of Gardena in unknown condition.

Three lanes were initially blocked on the westbound 105 Freeway. However, the lanes reopened in time for rush hour, around 6:10 a.m.
