Alleged DUI Driver Damages Multiple Vehicles in El Cajon

The Times of San Diego reports that a suspected drunk driver has been arrested after he hit multiple vehicles along El Cajon Boulevard on Friday.

On Friday, October 28, El Cajon Police Department dispatchers received a call about the incident at approximately 12:30 a.m. about a motorist who had hit at least seven parked cars along El Cajon Boulevard.

Eyewitnesses told responding police officers that the car had veered off the road and struck one vehicle in a parking lot. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to become airborne. The car then landed on top of at least six additional vehicles. 

Officials say that the driver and a passenger got out of the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. El Cajon Police officers were able to locate the two men a short) time later.

Both driver and passenger were transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries they sustained in the crash. Their identities and current condition had not been released at the time of the report.

The incident is currently under investigation. Speed and possible intoxication by drugs and/or alcohol are suspected.

Police later addressed the driver on suspicion of felony DUI, hit-and-run, and other related charges.
