Alleged DUI A Factor In Fresno Police Chase

ABC Channel 30 News reported recently that a police pursuit in the central area of Fresno, California on Saturday, February 27, 2021 led to the arrest of a motorist on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or other intoxicants (DUI) as well as evasion of police pursuit.

According to a news release issued by the Fresno Police Department, the incident took place between 11:00 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Saturday, February 27, 2021 near the intersection of Olive Avenue and Fulton Street in the central district of Fresno, California, when officers attempted to pull over a motorist driving a pickup truck. The driver of the truck fled from police and eventually got on the Sequoia – Kings Canyon Freeway (CA State Route 180.)

Shortly after entering CA State Route 180, both of the truck’s front tires popped for an unknown reason, preventing the pickup truck’s driver from exceeding twenty miles per hour for the remainder of the chase. The driver proceeded onto CA State Route 168 and then exited at McKinley Avenue before finally halting and surrendering to police.

He now faces DUI and evasion charges; the incident remains under an active investigation by local authorities.
