Alameda Reports 4 DUI Crashes in 4 Days

The Alameda Patch reports that four DUI arrests were made between Thursday and Sunday of last week following car accidents. A fifth incident was reported at the same time, but they specified the driver was underage and did not indicate if intoxication was involved.

The most severe incident involved a 24-year-old woman whose crash caused her car to roll over near the intersection of Grand Street and Ellen Craig Avenue on Friday. The same day, a 25-year-old man crashed into a vehicle at a red light, at the intersection of Willie Stargell and Mariner Square Loop

Two other drivers this weekend hit parked vehicles while allegedly intoxicated. Thursday, a 30-year-old man managed to strike multiple parked vehicles in the Alameda Avenue area, while on Sunday, another 30-year-old man crashed into a parked car as its owner approached it, near the intersection of 6th Street and Santa Clara Avenue.

Injuries and identities of those arrested for DUI were not released at this time. Alameda Police did remark, however, that this is the second time in the last few weeks that a streak of DUI-influenced accidents have wracked the city over a short span of time. Three accidents occurred in a two-day span in mid-July, with several injuries resulting from the crashes.
