People are arrested for DUI on a daily basis. While many of these arrests never make the news, if the suspect is a professional athlete or a celebrity, they will end up being featured on TMZ. While this doesn’t excuse their behavior, having everyone know what has occurred has its own problems.
Actress Jensen Buchanan, who had just recently returned to starring in the long-running soap opera “The Young and the Restless” was arrested under suspicion of DUI on Wednesday.
The arrest came after the actress was involved in a head-on collision with another driver in Buellton, California.
Buchanan was driving in the eastbound lanes of Highway 154 west of Live Oak. Her black Mercedes S550 drifted across the double yellow line into oncoming traffic.
Buchanan then crashed head-on with a Ford C-Max Hybrid that was traveling eastbound. Both Buchanan and the driver of the Ford were taken to an area hospital. According to a report from the California Highway Patrol, the other driver, Bradley Asolas, 56, suffered major injuries in the crash.
Buchanan was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
Buchanan has received two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
She had recently returned from taking a long break from acting.
