DUI Driver Crashes in Same Construction Zone

Work and construction zones can be hazardous for even the daily driver.  They can become even more hazardous to a driver who is under the influence of an intoxicating substance.  Wrecks and accidents can increase in number if drivers are intoxicated, particularly in areas where there are workers and construction occurring on roadways.

Three accidents in a week occurred in a Boston area work zone.  All three drivers were suspected of being under the influence.

The third accident happened during the morning hours of Thursday, June 30th.  The work zone is located on Route 24 in Raynham.

No one was hurt in the accident where a Jeep collided with a Bristol County sheriff’s office van.  The van was providing a security detail at the time of the accident.  The female driver was charged with driving under the influence and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

The previous Tuesday, a highway worker lost his life after being struck on Interstate 93 in Medford.  The driver in that accident was charged with vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle under the influence.

In yet another accident that occurred on Monday, a highway worker was left seriously injured.  This accident occurred in Boston.  The driver in that accident was also charged with Operating Under the Influence.
